Senior Electrical Engineer - PowerLocation: Traverse City, MI, US, 49690Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer- Power Systems to join our growing team. This is a high-impact technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex electrical design challenges and leading projects from concept through execution. In this role, you will support a wide range of industrial and energy infrastructure projects, including Oil & Gas, Renewables, Distributed Power, Data Centers, and Power Generation. You'll serve as a technical lead, client partner, and mentor—helping deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions while guiding project teams and supporting business growth.What You'll DoAs a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems, you will play a key role in the design, execution, and delivery of complex electrical engineering projects. Key responsibilities include:Leading moderate to large-scale electrical engineering projects from concept through deliveryServing as a technical lead and making sound decisions on complex engineering issuesDeveloping and overseeing power system designs, controls drawings, engineering calculations, technical reports, and project documentationDesigning electrical service interconnects in coordination with local utility providersPreparing specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipmentPerforming and/or leading electrical system studies, detailed design work, design reviews, field investigations, and technical reportingUsing engineering software such as SKM or ETAP for system modeling and analysisCoordinating closely with project managers, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholdersIdentifying project risks, scope changes, and technical challenges early and proactivelyContributing to proposal development, cost estimating, and business development effortsProviding mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designersWhat You BringRequired qualifications include:Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredProven experience in a technical leadership roleDirect experience supporting industrial facilitiesExperience using SKM or ETAPStrong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, API, and AGA recommended practicesPreferred experience includes:Substation designRelay programming and startupField support during constructionExperience spanning project conception, design, commissioning, and startupWhat Sets You ApartWe're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with leadership, initiative, and a practical consulting mindset. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary/hourly range for this position is $120,000-$170,000 per year.
