Electrical Estimator - Industrial & Heavy Commercial

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to lead cost estimating and bid development for large-scale industrial construction projects, think other mission-critical industrial builds. This role sits at the intersection of electrical engineering knowledge and construction cost estimating, and is a great fit for someone who understands how complex electrical systems actually get built, not just how they're drawn. You’ll work closely with project executives, engineers, and subcontractors to develop accurate, competitive bids on projects where the electrical scope is often the most technically complex and highest-dollar piece of the job. What You’ll Do Lead full-cycle estimating for electrical scope on industrial and heavy commercial projects, from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications for power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, grounding, conduit/cable tray, lighting, and low/medium voltage systems Analyze construction documents (electrical, and often mechanical/structural for coordination) to identify scope, risk, and constructability issues before bid day Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor quotes for electrical equipment and installation Develop labor productivity estimates based on project complexity, site conditions, and schedule constraints Build and present detailed cost estimates, bid proposals, and budget comparisons to leadership and clients Participate in pre-bid site visits, scope reviews, and bid strategy meetings Track industry pricing trends for major electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, generators) given long-lead procurement cycles common on power and data center projects Collaborate with project management and engineering teams during handoff to ensure estimate assumptions carry through to execution Contribute to value engineering discussions and constructability reviews What You Bring 5+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction, with direct exposure to power plants, data centers, substations, or similar heavy industrial/mission-critical facilities Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering strongly preferred (or equivalent hands-on industry experience) Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, equipment specifications, and NEC code requirements Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, ConEst, or similar) and takeoff tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) Ability to read and interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings for scope coordination Strong relationships with electrical subcontractors and equipment vendors a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills, you'll be presenting numbers to clients and leadership, not just building spreadsheets Why This Role Industrial and mission-critical projects are some of the most technically demanding work in the estimating field.
