The Role

As a Software Engineer on our Satori AI Platform team, you will help build the internal platform that every Proofpoint product team uses to build agentic applications — spanning AI-assisted development, evaluation-based release gates, OpenTelemetry observability for agents in production, and cross-product AuthX for AI workloads. Your direct users are fellow product engineers, and the products they ship protect business-critical communications for Fortune 100 customers 24/7/365. The components and primitives you build will help define how mission-critical agentic software ships across the company. We empower small teams to make large impacts, the systems are inherently non-deterministic, and the bar for what we ship to product teams is high. Your day-to-day
* Build platform components in Python (with strong typing) and TypeScript/Node — SDKs, services, and CLIs that product teams adopt and extend
* Contribute deeply to one or more of our platform pillars: AI-assisted developer workflows, eval-driven release gates, OpenTelemetry instrumentation for LLM/agent traffic, cross-product AuthX, etc.
* Implement and harden agent runtimes built on frameworks like LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic's Agent SDK, and MCP
* Wire up evaluation pipelines (LangSmith, Braintrust, promptfoo, or similar) that gate releases on real quality and safety signals
* Instrument agentic systems with OTel and the GenAI semantic conventions so we can debug latency, cost, and quality in production
* Partner with product teams onboarding to the platform; resolve bugs and field integration questions
* Evaluate new design & code patterns regularly; learn new techniques and technologies as a result of peer review and mentorship; share what you have learned with your peers

What you bring to the team
* Prior experience shipping production Python (typed) and/or TypeScript/Node services
* Working knowledge of at least one agent framework or LLM SDK (LangGraph, OpenAI/Anthropic Agents SDK, MCP, LangChain, or similar)
* Familiarity with evaluation, prompt iteration, or LLM observability tooling — and an opinion on what "good" looks like
* Comfort working with non-deterministic systems: you instrument first, debug from traces, and trust evals over anecdotes
* Experience designing, developing, and supporting applications in a microservices cloud environment
* Knowledge of CI/CD and working with tools like Jenkins or similar
* Strong conviction to solve critical business problems in an efficient manner, building on your experience in a mature software development lifecycle (SDLC)
* A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. Base Pay Range: 136,200.00 - 214,005.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 112,700.00 - 177,100.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 101,600.00 - 159,720.00 USD
