Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night (3x12-Hour) and Day (3x12-Hour) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with mixed-acuity patients Description: The position involves providing care in a mixed-acuity unit for critically ill and acutely ill patients requiring advanced cardiac care. Nursing assignments are determined on a shift-to-shift basis, considering patient acuity and staff skill levels. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 and 2:1 for ICU level patients and 3:1 for PCU level patients. The patient population includes unstable pre-heart transplants and patients with heart failure needing close monitoring. Care will also focus on patients with acute myocardial infarctions, those post-interventional cardiology procedures, and others requiring invasive hemodynamics. Nurses will manage arterial lines, assist with chest tube procedures, and administer blood products. Key skills include ventilator management, the care of ventilated patients, and dysrhythmia management. Nurses are expected to work weekends and may need to float between units based on facility needs.
