Director of Supply Chain
Position Title: Director of Supply Chain Management Location: Reno, NV Reports To: VP Operations Department: Supply Chain Classification: Exempt Salary: $150,000 - $200,000
Position Summary: The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for developing and executing strategies that support ASSA ABLOY Fenestration's growth, profitability, customer service, and operational objectives across its manufacturing, distribution, and sourcing operations. Leading the areas of demand planning, inventory management, purchasing, strategic sourcing, supplier performance, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), this position serves as a key business partner to Operations, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Finance, and Distribution. Success in the role requires balancing customer demand, inventory investment, supplier capacity, and operational requirements to ensure reliable product availability while optimizing working capital and overall supply chain performance. The position drives continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, inventory optimization, material availability, supplier performance, and cost competitiveness through the development of scalable processes, performance metrics, and data-driven decision making. In addition, this leader is responsible for supply chain risk management initiatives, including supplier diversification, near-shoring strategies, tariff mitigation, trade compliance considerations, and sourcing optimization efforts that protect margins and strengthen business continuity. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Supply Chain plays a critical role in supporting operational transformation, ERP maturity, and future growth by building a resilient, high-performing supply chain capable of supporting a complex, multi-site manufacturing and distribution network across North America.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support business growth, profitability, and operational excellence. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing, planning, inventory management, and supplier performance. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for service, inventory, supplier performance, cost savings, and working capital. Build organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, and development of supply chain team members.
- Global Sourcing, Tariff Management & Supply Chain Risk: Develop and execute sourcing strategies that reduce supply chain risk while supporting cost, quality, and service objectives. Lead tariff mitigation initiatives, including supplier relocation, product translation, near-shoring, country-of-origin optimization, and trade compliance strategies. Monitor global trade policies, tariffs, duties, freight markets, geopolitical risks, and economic trends that may impact supply continuity or profitability. Partner with Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to quantify tariff exposure and implement action plans that protect margins and customer competitiveness. Evaluate and develop sourcing opportunities across North America and global supply markets to reduce dependence on single-source suppliers and high-risk regions. Lead strategic supplier transitions, localization initiatives, and capacity expansion efforts to support business growth and changing market conditions. Develop contingency plans for critical commodities, key suppliers, and supply chain disruptions. Identify opportunities to optimize distribution networks, transportation strategies, and inventory positioning to improve customer service while minimizing total landed cost.
- S&OP and Demand Planning: Lead and facilitate the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Partner with Sales, Product Management, Finance, and Operations to develop accurate demand forecasts. Align demand, inventory, supplier capacity, and business objectives through a structured planning process. Drive forecast accuracy improvements and inventory visibility throughout the organization.
- Inventory Management & Supply Planning: Establish inventory strategies and policies that balance customer service requirements with working capital objectives. Develop safety stock methodologies and inventory planning processes across manufacturing and distribution locations. Monitor inventory levels, turns, obsolescence, and service performance. Drive optimization of inventory deployment across facilities and distribution centers.
- Purchasing & Strategic Sourcing: Lead all sourcing and procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and performance management. Develop strategic supplier partnerships focused on quality, delivery, innovation, and cost competitiveness. Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, near-shoring, and risk mitigation. Lead material cost reduction initiatives supporting annual business objectives.
- Supplier Performance & Risk Management: Establish supplier scorecards and performance review processes. Manage supplier quality, delivery performance, and corrective action activities. Develop contingency plans for critical suppliers, high-risk commodities, and supply disruptions. Monitor global market conditions, tariffs, logistics costs, and supply risks.
- ERP & Supply Chain Systems: Champion disciplined use of ERP, planning, and reporting systems. Support ERP implementation and continuous process improvement efforts. Ensure supply chain data integrity, reporting accuracy, and adoption of best practices. Leverage technology and analytics to improve forecasting, planning, and decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations to ensure material availability and support production requirements. Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development during product launches, design changes, and supplier transitions. Work closely with Finance to align inventory investments, forecasts, and business planning. Support strategic initiatives involving distribution, logistics, and network optimization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 15+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience leading purchasing, sourcing, planning, and inventory management functions. Demonstrated experience leading S&OP processes across multiple sites. Experience supporting ERP implementations or major system transformations. Experience with international sourcing and supplier management, including Mexico and Asia preferred. Strong understanding of demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and strategic sourcing. Experience developing and tracking supply chain KPIs. Strong analytical and financial acumen with understanding of working capital impacts. Proven contract negotiation and supplier management skills. Strong leadership, communication, and change management capabilities. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Advanced ERP/MRP knowledge.
Education and Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field, MBA preferred.
