Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location

Colorado Springs, CO (Float Zone – includes facilities within a 60-mile radius)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Onsite | Regional Float Pool

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across Medical Surgical and Telemetry units, with potential float to PCU/Stepdown and ED Observation levels based on acuity and staffing needs
• Care for an adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery, gynecology, and general medicine conditions
• Titrate Heparin drips and manage patients requiring RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Float throughout an assigned zone of facilities within a 60-mile radius; facility assignments are communicated 4–6 weeks in advance or 1–2 hours before shift start via Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling
• Maintain flexibility to fill scheduling gaps, cover weekend shifts (6–9 per 6-week schedule), and participate in holiday rotation as needed
• Collaborate with designated charge nurses and nurse aides; maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 based on acuity

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Colorado (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must reside or obtain housing within a feasible distance to float across the full 60-mile zone
• Must be physically present in state during the week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely
• Must not have a home base at any facility within the float zone (60-mile rule applies to all zone facilities)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in neurological nursing strongly preferred
• Experience floating across multiple units or working in a regional float pool environment
• Comfort with varied acuity levels including PCU/Stepdown and ICU observation holds
