Job TitleMechanical EngineerJob DescriptionMechanical engineers to perform process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, in a program team environment. Own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the program evolves. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required.Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplined team environment. Candidate must be willing to work within a lab environment and be hands-on with hardware.Essential Functions:Ability and desire to take full ownership of tasking while working with limited supervision in a variety of high consequence program activitiesProvide regular communication and briefings, both formally and informally, to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representativesGeneration of Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.)Prototype, Integrate, and Test component parts and assembliesDevelop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystemsPerform test and evaluation of component parts and systemsParticipate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviewsParticipate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changesParticipate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviewsHighly organized and detail orientedAble to work independently with limited supervisionAdhere to company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, quality, etc.Direct Designers, Technicians, and Operators as part of a design teamSupport field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representativeQualifications:Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experienceGraduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experienceLevel will depend on experience and skillset mixComfortable collecting technical concepts and presenting them to program leadershipActive Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is required. (Active within the last two years will be considered)Favorable polygraph required at startPreferred Additional Skills:Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms mechatronic systems packaging of modules and electronicsConsideration of thermal and structural loading Optimizations for size, weight, and powerProficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standardsExperience with any of the following: actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, and materials testingDesign for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experienceExperience with machined part design plastic and/or sheet metal part designAdditive manufacturing technologies and design best practicesUnderstanding of EVMS cost and schedule practices
