Transportation Manager II

Job Title: Transportation Manager II Department: Supply Chain Location: Lockbourne, Ohio, United States of America Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for direct driver management and supervision of a midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and best‑in‑class customer service. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety staff to reduce turnover. Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects related to fleet operations and profitability. Train and orient drivers and employees, including assistance with internal and third‑party systems. Analyze fleet operations and profitability, recommend continuous improvements, and develop key performance indicators. Create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis at customer locations. Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment market demand. Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, and invoicing. Oversee yard operations: inspect equipment, replace parts, coordinate with maintenance, and schedule preventive maintenance. Resolve service issues, routing, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay issues in collaboration with drivers, customers, and company personnel. Maintain a safety culture with daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, and annual reviews. Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service. Qualifications Minimum High School Diploma or GED. 2–3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience. Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends. Strong professional communication skills. Experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions. Willingness to travel to account and customer locations. Experience holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations. Ability to perform in a stressful, high‑pressure environment. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. 1–2 years of related experience. Shift Wednesday – Saturday, 7AM – 6PM Compensation Base salary range: $60,000 – $75,000 per year.
