Flexible Part-Time Accounting Opportunity

A well-established construction firm in Palatine is looking for a Part-Time Accounting Specialist to help bring organization and efficiency to its accounting operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants flexibility without committing to a full-time schedule. You’ll have the ability to set your own hours, provided you work Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

A major focus of the position will be getting caught up on invoicing and cleaning up a backlog of invoices that need to be created, processed, and sent out. This person will play an important role in getting the company’s billing current and keeping accounts payable and accounts receivable organized moving forward.

What You’ll Do

• Create customer/vendor invoices from scratch using information provided by the business
• Review, organize, and process a backlog of invoices that need to be sent out
• Prepare and send invoices to customers and vendors
• Handle day-to-day Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) activities
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Research discrepancies and resolve missing or incorrect information
• Track outstanding invoices and follow up as needed
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation
• Enter accounting and invoice information into internal systems
• Help clean up and streamline existing accounting processes
• Provide general accounting support as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Previous accounting experience, ideally with both AR and AP
• Experience creating and processing invoices
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly organized with the ability to work independently
• Comfortable working through a backlog and prioritizing what needs to be addressed first
• Strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel
• Construction industry or job-costing experience is a plus, but not required

The Schedule

10–20 hours per week

You have the flexibility to set your own schedule. Hours simply need to be worked Monday–Friday during normal business hours.

Whether you prefer to work a few hours each morning, several longer days, or another consistent schedule that works for you, there is flexibility to make the position fit your availability.
