Details High-acuity, cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 Frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume No ventilator patients on this unit Common patient populations include heart failure, A-Fib, A-Flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, FVO, chest pain, HTN, heart transplant, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients Common procedures include right/left heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal/management, stent placement, valve replacement, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, and ablations AM shift, 3x12s, 36 hours per week No on-call responsibilities Floating to similar cardiac/PCU units required, but not to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles EPIC EMR experience required Requirements Active GA or compact RN license in hand BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience within the past 3 years Must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam using calipers on the first attempt Experience required with cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, and nitroglycerin Chest tube experience required Must rate a 4 on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred, with training available if needed EPIC EMR experience required Additional Information Provide direct nursing care to high-acuity cardiac and PCU patients, managing frequent admissions, discharges, and procedural volume Navy blue scrubs required Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted Former Emory or Houston perm staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility Strict RTO policy: up to 5 days allowed if not near a holiday, up to 3 days if near a holiday, with only one holiday request permitted American Traveler Job ID P-772856.
