How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Operations Plant Manager you will be responsible for overseeing our Monroe City, Missouri facility with focus on manufacturing operations. This Senior Leadership position involves ensuring the efficient production of high-quality products, managing production schedules, optimizing processes, and leading the operations team. You will work closely with other departments to align manufacturing goals with the company’s strategic objectives. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: 1. Strategic Planning and Production Management Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that support company objectives. Lead and manage the operations team to achieve production goals. Collaborate with executive leadership to set long‑term manufacturing goals and objectives. Oversee all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and timely production of products. Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and company targets. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Identify potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures. Oversee inventory management to minimize waste and reduce costs. Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, controlling costs while optimizing resources. Analyze financial data related to manufacturing operations and make informed decisions. Implement cost‑saving initiatives without compromising product quality. 2. Team Leadership and Development Recruit, train, and develop staff. Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and other key staff. Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and innovation. Evaluate performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 3. Quality and Continuous Improvement Maintain high standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process. Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular audits. Address and resolve any quality issues promptly and effectively. Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency. Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to drive operational improvements. Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements. Implement new technologies and automation to improve manufacturing processes. Drive innovation in product development and manufacturing techniques. What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) Required Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent organizational and strategic planning skills. Proficiency in manufacturing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Strong financial acumen and budget management skills. Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions. Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Experience Proven experience leading manufacturing operations , including accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and cost across more than one facility. Demonstrated success driving operational turnarounds , capacity expansion, or major productivity improvements in a discrete or process manufacturing environment. Experience partnering with executive leadership to translate strategic objectives into executable manufacturing plans and measurable results. Strong background managing capital projects , automation initiatives, and equipment upgrades from business case through implementation. Track record of leading organizations through change management , including restructuring, cultural transformation, or rapid growth. Preferred Knowledge Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence systems , including KPI‑driven management and root cause analysis. Strong understanding of EHS regulations, quality systems, and compliance requirements within a manufacturing environment. Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems , production planning, inventory control, and supply chain integration. Financial acumen related to manufacturing P&L , budgeting, cost control, and productivity metrics. Awareness of emerging manufacturing technologies, automation, and data‑driven operations that improve safety, quality, and throughput. Preferred Skills Exceptional people leadership skills , with the ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable at all levels of the organization. Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills , particularly in fast‑paced or high‑pressure production environments. Ability to analyze complex operational and financial data and translate insights into actionable plans . Effective cross‑functional communication and influence , building alignment with engineering, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams. Skilled in setting clear expectations, establishing priorities, and driving execution discipline across multiple plants. Preferred Abilities Ability to lead with a strong safety‑first mindset while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. Capability to balance short‑term operational demands with long‑term strategic improvements . Comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy and accountability in a senior leadership role. Daily on‑site support May require extended hours during peak production periods or to address urgent issues.
