Qualifications and Details about the Position P OSITION SUMMARY • R epo r t s to the Regional Safety Manager and/or Safety Manager based on reporting region and field assignment/location. • R e sponsible for implementing and maintain the Corporate Health, Safety, Security and Environmental ( H S S E ) programs for assigned areas of work as directed.

• D e velops a thorough working knowledge of the HSSE functions as the relate and correspond to, regulatory compliance, company policy and procedures, client procedures and best practices.
• E n s u r e s worksites assigned to are in compliance with corporate standards, governmental regulations and client standards.
• D e velops reports, plans, conducts assessments, provides trend analysis, manages records, and

i n t e r f a ces on a regular basis with the client’s project/site personnel.

• P r e p a r e s technical reports and plans for new and existing work activities.
• This position requires the ability to effectively influence an organization at all levels to achieve safety performance standards developed by Aegion Energy Services.

F UNCTIONS OF THE JOB • P r o vides expertise, implementation, leadership and coaching during incident investigations, including causal factor determination and corrective actions plans.

• P e r f o r m s safety audits periodically both internally and/or with third party auditors.
• Pa r t i cipates in safety committees.
• E n t e r and track safety metrics and information, including the input of incident investigations/corrective actions into our HSSE database software system.
• A na l y ze safety data/trends and make improvement recommendations (create reports, charts, and presentations as necessary).
• Function independently, as well as in a team environment.
• D a il y standard under normal conditions for this position is 75% in the field and 25% in the office

Daily Responsibilities • A d m i n i strative review and support of job permits. • P r e p a r a t i o n and/or guidance with the daily JHA, pre-use inspections, pre-job hazard assessment and a l l other pre-job documentation for hazard identification/mitigation – daily implementation of proactive measures for hazard controls identified.

• R e view JHAs completed by craft personnel for quantity and quality.
• I m p l e m e n t proactive steps for improved safety during job walks, observations, or audits.
• P a r t i cipate where applicable in contractor safety meetings.
• P r e - shift and ongoing work set up and calibration of technical safety equipment (atmospheric monitoring equipment, etc.).
• P r o vide onsite representation with regards to customer inspections and audits of jobsites.
• M on i to r and direct employees on the process for substance abuse screens (random and for cause), including providing or coordinating escort to and from the testing facilities/clinic.
• M on i t o r and direct employees to the proper process of maintaining an active approved drivers list for the jobsite.

W e e k y Responsibilities • P r o vide and/or coordinate weekly safety training session based on specifically provided themed topics t o crews and supervision at the jobsite.

• M on i t o r the need for and coordinate the action of if needed, site employee training per client and/or regulatory requirements, i.e., crane operations, rigging, confined space, site specific training, etc.
• R e view/discuss with site supervision the results and proactive control measures discovered during site audits.
• C o ll e ct, review and input employee observations (HSOR cards or equivalent)

M onthly Responsibilities • R epo r t by the 5 th o f each month, from the previous month, the Monthly Safety Statistics Report (MSSR) t o Corporate HSSE.

• C o ll e ct, summarize, and report leading indicator data (including, but not limited to employee observations and leadership observations).
• Follow up with any substandard acts/conditions identified during review of all observations.
• C o ll e ct, summarize and report lagging indicator data (i.e., employee incidents closed, corrective actions identified and proper reporting in Industry Safe®).
• R e view and reporting (if applicable) to clients the results of site safety audits/inspections.
• P r o vide and/or coordinate additional safety training needs.
• R e view of relevant safety trend analysis.
• R epo rting monthly safety training matrix to site management in a timely manner.
• S u p po r t and coordinate efforts to address any customer needs (i.e., new client best practices and/or

ne w client requirements).

• S u p po r t and coordinate safety incentive programs (i.e., Focus Four and/or client-based programs).
• S u p po r t when applicable based on-site exposures, Workers Compensation Program, and case

m a n a g e m e n t . • Att en d monthly “All-Hands” calls coordinated by Corporate HSSE. Q uarterly Responsibilities • P r o vide and/or coordinate Focus Four Quarterly Leadership Training curriculums for all site leadership ea c h quarter. Pr efe rr e d Requirements • D eg r e e / c e r t i f i cation in Health, Safety and Environmental Management or related science/engineering area preferred; and/or equivalent experience/training leading to the thorough understanding of health, safety and environmental disciplines.

• E xperience working on multi-employer worksites with contractors.
• K no w l e d g e of governmental HSE standards, rules and regulations.
• K no wledge of client best practices and standards utilized in our work environments.
• So u n d understanding of hazard recognition/mitigation techniques
• A b ili t y to work with computers and automated information systems for safety.
• P o ssess training and presentation skills
• M u st be able to communicate with all levels of the Company, plant employees, contractors and community.
• E xcellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Travel to and between work-site locations.
• Job requirements may include the need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery.
