Eligibility & Minimum Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire. Upon hire, provide written documentation of student status (letter from advisor/instructor on school letterhead or current class schedule including name of student and school). Must be available during school breaks and summer. And prefer availability while school is in session and on weekends. Preferred Qualifications Students pursuing a career in the Health Care industry such as Allied Health, Nursing, Pre-Med, EMT, EMS and First Responder. Special Requirements American Heart Association (AHA) BLS (CPR/AED) or ACLS Certification or formal training. Other CPR/AED credentials may be accepted at hire, but incumbents will be required to obtain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ACLS, depending on position, within six months of hire and maintain during employment. Working Conditions May require lifting patients (minimum of fifty (50) pounds), walking for sustained periods (at least 45 minutes per hour), and exposure to communicable and/or infectious diseases. Considerable effort may be required in assisting/lifting patients. Examples of Duties Transports patients safely to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, chair or other modes as requested. Transports patients with rolling IV poles, oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips or special equipment. Assists clinical staff in transferring patients to and from beds and stretchers. Collects, delivers and handles body fluid specimens, linens and medical records following defined protocols. Responds to telephone inquiries, triage calls, beepers and codes for medical emergencies and assists as directed. Maintains an accurate log of calls completed in log book. Transports expired bodies to morgue. Assists people in and out of vehicles and escorts or transports them to and from units, assisting in carrying luggage, opening doors, etc. Replenishes unit supplies. Performs related duties required. Schedule Dependent upon department needs; either 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., or 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., weekends as needed. Needs may be intermittent. Pay Rate $19.00 per hour.
