Chorus Director: Island Grove Chorus

Island Grove Chorus is hiring a music director. We are a women’s a cappella barbershop chorus. IGC is a member chorus of Sweet Adelines International, North Atlantic Region I, and has been active in Abington, Massachusetts for 30 years. The chorus rehearses weekly and performs a variety of concerts and sing-outs in our South Shore communities throughout the year. Our repertoire consists of American songbook, Broadway and movies musicals, pop and contemporary songs, patriotic, spiritual, and holiday music. The music director is responsible for the overall musical product, including music selection (in consultation with our music committee), choreography (in consultation with the choreography committee), rehearsal and performance planning, and some long-term administrative planning (in consultation with the chorus board of directors). Experience with and knowledge of barbershop is encouraged but not required; more important is a love of music, the ability to educate and lead a music group, and a love of performing. Educational opportunities in barbershop, directing skills, arranging, etc. are available to interested candidates.
