Director of Dining Services

The Director of Dining Services leads all food service operations in a high‑touch environment, ensuring exceptional experiences for residents while managing food preparation, dining room, and delivery services. Responsibilities Direct food service operations, including food preparation, dining room operations, and dining delivery services. Purchase food, manage inventory, and control costs while ensuring quality and vendor service. Maintain nutrition standards and food quality for residents’ health and enjoyment. Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for sanitary and safe operations. Plan and execute dining events and themes in collaboration with Activities Director, Marketing Director, and other staff to enhance resident life. Hire, train, and manage all supervisory staff for kitchen, dining room, catering, and delivery services. Coach supervisors on staffing, motivation, discipline, and training to maintain a safe and pleasant dining experience. Consult with chefs and cooks to develop and maintain nutritious, resident‑preferred menus. Develop department budget, approve food orders, and monitor budget compliance to maintain operational quality. Promote socialization through food presentation and events, and improve dining room décor and condition. Network with Regional Food Service Directors to improve operations, reduce costs, and generate new program ideas. Qualifications Education and Experience – College degree in food service or hospitality management preferred; minimum 8 years progressive experience in the food service industry, including 3 years in a supervisory role. Certifications – Current ServSafe Certification required; local, state, or county food handling and sanitation licenses or certificates required. Management and Decision Making – Applies guidelines to make varied decisions, solves moderately complex problems, and manages large teams. Knowledge and Skills – Extensive knowledge of food preparation, delivery, nutrition, budgets, and regulations; strong interpersonal skills with residents and staff.
