QA Technician

This role supports Quality Assurance, R&D, and Operations in a beverage production facility. It combines production-floor QA, sensory testing, analytical testing, documentation, and audit preparation. This position is suited for early-career Food Science candidates seeking hands-on manufacturing experience and exposure to food safety systems.

Location: San Leandro, California (On-site) Employment Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with manufacturing as a partner, with a heavy presence on the production floor.
• Perform line checks, observe processes, and ensure compliance with GMPs.
• Conduct water activity testing, color perimeter testing, and sensory evaluations for syrups and dairy-based sauces.
• Perform analytical testing, including pH, Brix, and viscosity.
• Support the positive release of products.
• Assist with food safety audit preparation.
• Maintain general lab and office organization.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be proactive, hands-on, and possess strong communication skills. They should be comfortable on the production floor, curious, observant, and detail-oriented. Reliability and self-motivation are essential.

Education & Experience:

• Completion of at least three upper-division college-level courses in Food Science or a related discipline.

Technical Skills:

• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Ability to perform basic analytical tests (pH, Brix, viscosity).
• Strong sensory evaluation skills.
• Accurate documentation and recordkeeping abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in PowerPoint.
