Junior Patent Agent - Chemistry

Job Overview A law firm seeks a technology advisor or patent agent for their life sciences patent practice in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field to join their busy life sciences patent prosecution and counseling practice. Duties Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses. Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO. Requirements Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills. Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology. Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others. Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Education Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field. Certifications Registered USPTO patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Skills Technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
