Associate Faculty Pool, American Sign Language (PT Faculty) Location: Lynnwood, Washington Salary: A five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 We accept applications for part-time faculty positions on an ongoing basis. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Modern Languages Department offers American Sign Language (ASL) courses at the beginning and intermediate levels. Courses offered in the American Sign Language program include ASL& 121, ASL& 122, and ASL& 123. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in American Sign Language, ASL linguistics, deaf studies, deaf education, or sign language interpretation/translation. College or university teaching experience. Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS College teaching experience. Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is typically performed in a classroom that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a computer in the work environment. COMPENSATION The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire. Criminal background check.
