Job DescriptionAre you looking for your next opportunity?Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Vice President, First-Party Construction Underwriter (Builder's Risk) as part of Sompo's Engineered Risk Business Unit.The U.S. Insurance Engineered Risk practice provides first-party property coverage for both owner and contractor controlled project specific covers for Contractor All Risk, Erection All Risk and Civil infrastructure occupancies. Working with a select group of wholesale and retail brokers, our experienced specialists tailor solutions to meet the unique needs of each client. Providing individual risk policies as well as products for niche classes, we deliver risk solutions effectively and responsively. Location:This position can be based out of our Alpharetta, GA; Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; or San Francisco, CA areas. We strive for collaboration, which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunity:What you’ll be doing:Responsible for the development of the Engineered Risk business within their assigned territory. Underwrite complex construction projects to properly determine capacity allocation, attachment point, terms and pricing to create a diverse and profitable book of business. Manage and develop producer and client relationships.Develop and execute a regional marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new business.Create and foster a reputation as an industry expert with peers and producers.Provide technical expertise to Sompo Internationals Global Risk Solution and Inland Marine product lines.Gather and evaluate industry trends and competitive intelligence.Participates in the development of the policy forms, premium rating plans and underwriting guidelines.Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines.Ability to work with others within a team and contribute to the development of others.Ability to attend industry function(s).Ability to travel nationally 25% of the timeWhat you’ll bring:12+ years of Engineered Risk/Construction Property underwriting experienceEstablished relationships with regional retail & wholesale brokersEstablished relationships with national facultative reinsurersExperience in successfully underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable businessBachelor’s Degree with an Engineering discipline preferredStrong Attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong analytical and organizational skillsStrong computer skills, Microsoft office applicationsSalary Range: $190,000.00 – $240,000.00Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
