Position Title: Employee Engagement Specialist Employment Status: At-Will FLSA Status: Exempt Hours: Full-Time Annual Salary: $67,000-77,560.88 The Elizabeth Fire Protection District is seeking an applicant for an open position for Employee Engagement Specialist. The job qualifications and position summary are listed in the current Job Description which is available on request. Elizabeth Fire Protection District is a progressive, family-oriented organization that values its members and employees. All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and have 3 years of human resources experience. Apply online using the link provided: Summary The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for a wide range of human resources and administrative duties necessary for the District operations, including but not limited to, day-to-day management of public engagement, personnel records management, and employee lifecycle and benefits management (including recruitment, retention, and departure). Supervisor The Employee Engagement Specialist is supervised by and reports directly to the Director of Finance & Human Resources. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Manages the hiring process including posting jobs, phone screening, scheduling interviews, and participating as needed in the interview process. Responsible for employee onboarding and deboarding and assisting with orientation process, including but not limited to verifying employment eligibility, preparing paperwork, and data entry into the District’s records management system. Responsible for employee recognition programs including but not limited to employee anniversary gift program and employee birthday program. Maintains and updates employee personnel and confidential files to ensure legal compliance. Manages employee recognition events, coordinates timely notifications, creates packets of recognition items, orders and manages inventory of recognition and retirement materials, communicates with chain of command, secures locations, prepares notices for events, provides logistical support, prepares materials and presentations, and arranges catering. Manages employee benefit administration, supports annual open enrollment activities, responds to benefit inquiries, and resolves problems with employees and service providers. Administer all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and any ancillary offerings. Researches and evaluates new benefit options by analyzing market trends, benchmarking against industry standards, and assessing employee needs to enhance the overall benefits package. Develops, implements, and manages internal programs aimed at boosting employee morale and satisfaction by providing knowledge and support of benefits programs to staff. Analyzes employee feedback and reports findings to leadership to drive improvements. Works independently to complete assigned tasks. Successfully completes special projects, as required, involving a high degree of administrative skills. Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Assists in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and contributes to policy development. Manages uniform acquisition and distribution. Serves as the designated backup for payroll processing responsibilities. Maintains certain aspects of the District’s record management system. Provides Notary Public services to the public and District members, as necessary. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with the Fire Chief, Chief Staff, District members, and the general public in the course of work. Consistently promotes a professional image of the District at all times. Maintains an organized and clean work area and assists with general cleaning and maintenance of administrative offices. Positively and effectively communicates with other District members, the Board, and the public in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position. Performs other duties and/or tasks assigned from time to time by the Director of Finance & Human Resources, Division Chief, Fire Chief, and as required by the laws of the State of Colorado. Minimum Certification and Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a human resources-related field. Three (3) years of human resources related experience showing increasing levels of responsibility. Possess and maintain valid State of Colorado driver’s license with an insurable driving record. Be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and have proof of employment eligibility. Proficient in the daily use of Microsoft Office products. Possess basic knowledge of government accounting practices. Possess knowledge of District functions, practices, and procedures preferred. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation, at a level adequate to perform the essential functions of the position. Possess Notary Public certificate. Must satisfactorily pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol test. Working Environment / Physical Requirements This position involves sedentary administrative work in an office environment. Moderate physical activity is required; for example, the ability to lift items in excess of 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping/bending, lifting, and repetitive motion. Requires presence in the office during normal business hours. This position demands frequent use of sensory activities such as talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling (identifying objects by touch), depth perception, and color vision.
