Communications Manager

Principal Purpose of the Position

The Communications Manager leads the planning, execution, and governance of internal and external organizational communications. This role oversees content development, editorial standards, communication workflows, and communication platforms while managing a cross-functional team to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with organizational priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the communications team, including project prioritization, workflow management across multiple concurrent initiatives, and staff development.
• Oversee governance, editorial guidance, and execution of content strategy for all internal and external communication channels.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for leadership, content authors, and project partners, turning strategic goals into actionable plans while ensuring alignment and timely completion of deliverables.
• Own and maintain the organizational communications calendar, setting communication priorities, planning reoccurring and emerging communications, and recommending the best timing and channels for delivery.
• Establish and implement standardized processes and workflows to improve operational efficiency and cross-department collaboration. Develop frameworks to streamline content creation and reduce editing cycles.
• Create strategic copy for standardized messaging, event marketing, campaigns and other initiatives as needed.
• Oversee brand standards and guide visual communication, presentation design, and graphic design initiatives
• Facilitate the development of executive presentations, partnering with content authors and communication design specialist
• Collaborate with Data Insights & Analytics team to monitor and report on communication performance metrics.
• Own platform governance, including enhancements, and user access management.
• Stay informed of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance communication strategies and processes across the organization.

Educational/Skills/Experiential Requirements

1. 7+ years of progressive communications and project management experience in a corporate environment.
2. Experience managing both internal and external communication programs.
3. Experience managing a team.
4. Experience supporting senior executives and organizational change initiatives. .
5. Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field. Master’s degree in Strategic Communications, Marketing Communications, or Business Administration (MBA) preferred but not required.
