Position Overview

This is a 13-week variable day/night position starting on September 28. The selected candidate must be willing to work a schedule that includes two of the following three holidays: Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving. This role involves assignment to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and may require floating to various satellite locations as needed.

Schedule

Shift Type: 3x12-Hour (Variable Day/Night)
Night Shift: 19:00 - 07:00
Day Shift: 07:00 - 19:00
Weekend Availability: Must be flexible with weekend scheduling

Qualifications

Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a NICU Level 3 or higher environment
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Strong NICU experience is necessary for first-time travelers

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to neonatal patients and may be assigned to float to the following locations:

Rady Main Campus
Scripps Encinitas
Rancho Springs
Palomar
Scripps Mercy

Required Skills

Administration of medications, including anti-seizure medications and antibiotics
Blood monitoring, including blood glucose and arterial line management
Support for breastfeeding and handling of breast milk
Ventilator management and high-frequency ventilation
Ability to perform therapeutic procedures such as therapeutic hypothermia and blood transfusions

Work Environment

This position is in a Children's Hospital NICU setting, which is a Level 3 unit. The facility offers a supportive interdisciplinary environment with resources such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.

Additional Information

Travelers will receive free parking, and there are no billable modules required for orientations. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a California RN license.
