Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Surgical PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Up to 26 weeks available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a surgical progressive care unit functioning as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, including bariatric specialty patients and backup support to the trauma unit
• Perform cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response or code team activation as needed
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and care of central and peripheral lines including PICC lines
• Administer cardiac drips (no titration) including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Provide ventilator care for chronic trach patients and respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Manage equipment including ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, and endo tools; maintain isolation precautions and float within skillset as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ventilator experience required, specifically with chronic trach patients
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records required
• Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown unit settings
• Ability to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period and meet weekend requirements (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with bariatric or trauma patient populations
• Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting workflows
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers accepted
