About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Vent Experience Required)

Contract | Days | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a hybrid PCU/IMC unit managing diagnoses including DKA, COPD, sepsis, chronic respiratory failure, renal failure, and overdose/suicide presentations
• Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms via remote telemetry; activate Rapid Response and Code teams as indicated
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration required); maintain central and peripheral line care
• Deliver ventilator and tracheostomy care for chronic vent/trach-dependent patients
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Float within skillset to comparable units including PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown settings as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator and chronic tracheostomy patient care
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry management
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records
• Ability to meet weekend requirements (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) and work at least one holiday per 13-week contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, IMC, DOU, or stepdown unit environment
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and tele-sitting workflows
• Experience caring for patients with chronic respiratory failure or complex multi-system diagnoses
