High School Religion Teacher

A Jesuit Catholic school rooted in the tradition of cura personalis—care for the whole person—seeks a dynamic and mission-driven Religion teacher to join our faculty. This position is designed primarily for 12th grade theology. CRJHS serves a student body that is 98% Latino/Latina/Latine or Black. The ideal candidate will be committed to Jesuit education’s hallmark values—academic excellence, faith that does justice, and reflection leading to action—and can effectively engage students from diverse backgrounds in meaningful exploration of Catholic theology, Scripture, and ethical inquiry.

School Description:

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School provides access to a Catholic, Jesuit, college and career preparatory education to unlock the potential of students of any culture, faith, or creed to transform our communities. All students are required to complete a rigorous, standards-based college preparatory curriculum and participate in the Corporate Work Study Program whereby each student works five days per month in a corporate work assignment. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is a member of the Cristo Rey Network of 37 high schools around the United States that subscribe to similar demographic, academic, and internship program guidelines. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is located in Minneapolis, MN  and all teaching and work is done on-site. No hybrid or remote work is available; no visa sponsorship is available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Practice 

• Design and implement standards-based curriculum aligned with Cristo Rey Network benchmarks.Use formative and summative data to adjust instruction and close learning gaps.Deliver rigorous, culturally responsive lessons that differentiate for student needs.Provide targeted tutoring and academic support during office hours.Foster a classroom culture grounded in cura personalis and PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) principles.Participate in regular coaching cycles using the Danielson Framework.

Professional Presence

• Participate in continued professional development.Participate actively in the professional community through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts.Contribute to the Cristo Rey community outside of classroom responsibilities.Partner with the full Cristo Rey community to further the mission as a college preparatory school.Model values consistent with Catholic, Jesuit education and service to others.Required participation in Ignatian Identity cohort meetings held approximately every six weeks with the Director of Jesuit Mission and Identity to learn more about and engage with Jesuit and Ignatian values and spirituality, as well as attendance of an Ignatian Retreat for New Employees during the summer after their first year of employment, with expenses paid by the School. xihmbke

Preferred:

• Proficient bilingual Spanish/English skills

strongly preferred Teaching license in the primary teaching disciplineMasters Degree in Education or content areaPrior successful middle or high school teaching experience in an urban schoolExperience with teaching students in need of significant academic supportDemonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues effectively
