Accounting Manager

Senior Accountant (Contract-to-Hire) Onsite in Moraga, CA Overview This role is open due to an immediate need for additional accounting support while the organization continues efforts to hire a full-time employee. To accelerate onboarding and maintain continuity, the team is seeking a contract-to-hire Senior Accountant who can step in quickly and manage critical accounting operations. The position will focus on general ledger management, close activities, reconciliations, and process improvement within a higher-education-focused environment. Must-Have Qualifications Experience in nonprofit, higher education, or public accounting (including candidates directly out of public accounting). Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles. Hands‑on experience with Colleague or similar ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Background that ensures experience with: General Ledger (GL) Operational and Corporate Accounting Month‑end and year‑end Close Activities Manual or semi‑manual accounting environments Nice to have: Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar small‑business accounting systems. Nice-to-Haves Higher Education accounting experience (e.g., Grants Accounting). Exposure to or capability in technical accounting topics.
