About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: MUST be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Must have manager approval on first-time travelers, as this will depend on current staffing. Description: RN position available in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Facility has a total of 247 licensed beds. It is a Level 1 pediatric trauma center and a teaching hospital. Unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patient types include respiratory distress syndrome, congenital heart defects, seizures, and necrotizing enterocolitis, among others. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. Required skills include EPIC experience, EVDs, and management of critical care vasoactive drip titration. Experience with invasive lines, aseptic techniques, and ventilator management is required. Additionally, skills in bedside procedures and discharge planning are essential. Support within the department includes a unit secretary every shift, charge nurse available 24/7, and a resource nurse on call. Intensivists and residents are available in-house, along with unit-based educators and clinical supervisors. Technology used includes an EMR system, IV pumps, and breast milk scanning systems. Shift rotation requires working two Fridays and two Mondays, in addition to every other weekend. Travelers will be expected to work holidays as scheduled. RTO needs are preferred to be minimal and would require manager approval for significant requests. Dress code includes solid navy or white long sleeve shirts. Practice guidelines include bare below elbow in nurseries. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility.
