Job Summary

The Facilities & Engineering Manager leads and supervises a team of employees, providing guidance, training, and performance management to maintain a high-functioning department. The Manager is also responsible for the department’s administrative functions, including budgeting, scheduling, and inventory management. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to drive efficiency and uphold operational excellence.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute departmental goals while effectively managing labor, resources, schedules, and priorities based on business needs.
• Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with established quality, safety, and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate project and operational records, including labor hours, production, costs, and daily activities in Salesforce.
• Coordinate materials, supplies, equipment, and repair services while monitoring usage, inventory levels, and costs.
• Maintain department tools and equipment through effective inventory controls and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ensure work areas are clean, organized, safe, and compliant with company, industry, and regulatory requirements.
• Inspect work, materials, and equipment to identify quality concerns, defects, maintenance needs, or operational issues.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members by establishing clear expectations, providing consistent direction and feedback, and promoting accountability.
• Coordinate the onboarding and training of new employees on equipment, procedures, safety requirements, and company standards.
• Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performing work environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Assess staffing needs and partner with Human Resources on recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and succession planning.
• Enforce proper use of equipment and PPE and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and protocols.
• Communicate effectively with management, employees, vendors, contractors, and customers to coordinate activities and address operational needs.
• Proactively resolve operational issues and conflicts through effective problem-solving, sound judgment, and timely decision-making.

Experience

• Years of relevant work experience required: 5 years of facilities management operations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Requires climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
• Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
• Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
• Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
