Job Description and Duties Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full‑time employee in Bargaining Unit 16 to have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Salaries do not reflect these recent changes. Part‑time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition based on the number of hours worked in the pay period. This is a limited‑term position which may be extended or become permanent. This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring‑Above‑Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is: P $30,259, Q $31,136. Recruitment and Retention Bonus may be available for clinicians newly hired with CCHCS. Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend if they meet eligibility criteria, including remaining employed with CCHCS for six months. They may also receive a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS, totaling $5,000, if they meet eligibility criteria. Employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days, provided a questionnaire is completed. Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Sup), the Psychiatrist in Mental Health Services is a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates. The team includes other psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers assigned to a Service Area. The staff psychiatrist performs psychiatric evaluations, participates in treatment planning and case reviews, prescribes medications, and provides crisis intervention and psychotherapy. The staff psychiatrist also provides consultations and training in treatment approaches to both clinical and custody staff of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
