Inventory Control SpecialistRiver Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies; River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products from warehouses in Syracuse, NY.The Inventory Control Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy across our warehouse operations. The position is responsible for performing regular cycle counts, reconciling inventory discrepancies, processing returns & damages, and identifying root causes of inventory issues. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in problem-solving.Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 5am – 1:30pmWages: $20.25 - $21.00 per hourKey Responsibilities:Arrive promptly and prepared for each scheduled shiftConduct daily cycle counts and make accurate inventory adjustments in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).Monitor inventory reports, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed, including: Zero Bin Report, Overhead verifications, Weekly Quantity Comparison ReportEvaluate discrepancies reported on the Daily Outs recap from the 2nd shiftComplete Warehouse Receiving Error Log and Replen Error Log with all discrepancies that are identifiedProcess damaged goods and returns, including repacking product and returning to stock when applicableSupport quality assurance efforts by addressing recalls and investigating the root cause of mispicks, overages, or shortagesReceive and put away customer return products in the appropriate storage location and complete required paperwork and communication with accounting team to ensure proper customer creditsAssist with scheduled physical inventory counts and auditsMonitor and Maintain the Warehouse Hold & Release process including filling out the Hold & Release log, review weekly and communicate with the Purchasing department to coordinate disposition of productAssign picking slots to new items prior to their first receipt and complete regular re-slotting of existing products based on seasonality, movement or other factorsOperate equipment (forklift, scissor lift, power jack) safely and perform pre-operational inspections prior to useAdhere to all company policies and SQF (Safe Quality Food) protocols for product handling and storageMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentPerform additional duties as requested by the supervisor, including selecting, cleaning, shipping and sort/segregation of incoming productSkills and Competencies:Proficiency in reading and understanding English to comprehend inbound orders and supervisor instructionsAbility to lift up to 75 poundsCapability to stand and work on your feet for extended periodsSkilled in operating RF guns accuratelyAttention to detailAbility to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction and multiplicationEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredInventory Control experience preferred but not requiredBenefits: We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability InsuranceFlexible Paid Time OffPaid Holidays401(k) & Roth IRA with company matchEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Employee Purchase ProgramRiver Valley is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
