The Inventory Specialist will manage and accurately record commissary shipments using our inventory management system and ensure efficient inventory controls. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized work environment, conducting weekly physical inventory counts, and ensuring product usage adheres to expiration dates. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, the ability to follow complex instructions, and strong problem-solving skills. Ideal candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using technology for inventory management and possess excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities include overseeing inventory to ensure essential supplies are always available, minimizing the risk of shortages that could disrupt airport operations; regularly checking inventory accuracy against records, identifying and correcting any discrepancies to maintain reliable inventory data; keeping detailed and up-to-date records of inventory quantities and locations using inventory management software for easy tracking; working closely with procurement and logistics to order and receive supplies in a timely manner, avoiding stockouts; establishing and maintaining efficient systems for managing inventory, including automated tracking, and reordering processes; educating airport staff on proper inventory management practices to ensure consistency and accuracy across departments; working with various departments like maintenance and operations to understand their specific inventory requirements; ensuring all stored items meet safety and regulatory standards, particularly important in the airport environment; generating regular reports detailing inventory levels, usage, and projections for management review; managing the processes of receiving, storing, and dispatching goods, ensuring accuracy and timeliness; developing and upholding policies and procedures to maintain consistent inventory management practices; contributing to budget planning by analyzing and forecasting inventory-related costs; providing training to staff on inventory systems or technologies, ensuring smooth implementation and usage; and performing any additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications include being 18 years of age or older, legally authorized to work in the country of employment, holding a valid driver's license, communicating effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking), possessing a high school diploma, previous experience in inventory management or related roles, proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office, strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, effective communication and teamwork skills, knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures, ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means, passing a background check and drug screen, eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable), and flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical activity/working conditions may include ability to lift up to 70 pounds, prolonged standing and walking in an indoor/outdoor environment as applicable, may need to reach with arms and grasp with hands, may need to push, pull, must be able to crawl and crouch, at times, in confined tight spaces, may need to bend, stretch, squat, kneel, exposure to moderate and at times high noise levels, exposure to biohazards and/or chemicals, exposure to outdoor elements, be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms, tasks may involve repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers, and specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
