The Field Service Representative will be responsible for managing all aspects of water treatment plant commissioning, installation, and optimization, serving as a key interface between design engineering, construction teams, control systems, and customers.Duties & Responsibilities:Participate in Model Reviews, Engineering Design Meetings, and Safety in Design reviewsEnsure accessibility, maintenance, and operability of process equipmentDefine problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions to improve operations and determine design viabilityApply water treatment chemistry calculations, plane geometry, and engineering principles to troubleshooting and problem resolutionServe as construction liaison between design engineering and construction teams during Water Treatment Plant erectionIdentify and correct equipment alignment issues and plumb adjustment figures during installationManage activities of outside vendors and suppliers, ensuring services and supplies meet project specifications and performance requirementsMaintain strong safety mindset to ensure executed work reflects technical requirements within company safety standardsCommission Water Treatment Plants by ensuring process equipment and control systems perform per specificationsPerform control system factory acceptance tests with clients and client-designated representativesPerform specific PLC/HMI activities including Control System IO Checkout, system networking, program upload/download, understanding ladder logic and function blocks, troubleshooting code, and writing simple logicDevelop Standard Operating Procedures and log sheets to document and monitor equipment operationDevelop and execute classroom and hands-on training regarding operation and maintenance of process equipmentProvide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sitesDeliver effective presentations to customers, clients, and internal teamsPerform after-market services including site inspections, equipment inspections, and operator trainingPrepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and reference for future outagesApply mathematical operations to budget analysis and Time & Material (T&M) contract cost monitoringManage quality data for accuracy and report generationPhysical RequirementsRegularly required to sit; possible exposure to loud noise level on-siteSite assignments shall be in Canada and foreign countries and may involve accommodations at remote work campsMany water treatment facilities are located outside and work activities will be outdoorsExposure to chemically aggressive fluids (acids and bases)QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong water treatment chemistry knowledge and technical proficiency with ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolutionAdvanced technical skills including competency with analytical instrumentation, calibrated tools, hand tools, and safe handling of chemically aggressive fluids (acids and bases)Working knowledge of electrical equipment, control systems, and safety protocols with physical capabilities for hands-on instrument servicing and equipment handlingComputer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, network operations, and database management for technical documentation and reportingValid passport and driver's license with ability to travel extensively (70-80% of time; ~250 days/year)Proven ability to work independently and remotely with cross-functional project teams, driving projects to completion with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and commitmentsStrong customer relationship management skills with ability to balance external and internal stakeholder needsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to create concise technical reportsEffective prioritization and multitasking abilities for managing multiple service projects and administrative responsibilities simultaneouslySound business judgment with ability to conduct risk-reward analysis and make strategic decisions aligned with organizational objectivesSelf-motivated professional with strong mathematical skills, customer service orientation, and proven ability to learn company procedures and adapt to evolving technical requirementsEducation & Experience:Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited university, college or has completed received a technical certification from an accredited program, or 5 + years of experience in water treatment/wastewaterExperience in commissioning, construction, or field servicesMechanical experience and know-how (hands-on, reading and interpreting drawings, etc.), particularly with water treatment equipment (pumps, valves, instrumentation, relief valves, regulators, pneumatic systems, etc.)Electrical experience and know-how (hands-on, reading and interpreting drawings, etc.), particularly with electrical panels and water treatment equipmentTraining in lock-out/tag-out proceduresPreferred:Technical Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma with minimum 5 years of experience in water treatment fieldComprehensive knowledge of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, piping, welding specifications, and civil engineering notationsExpert knowledge of water treatment systems and technologies including Ultrafiltration Systems, Membrane Bio Reactors, and Separation TechnologiesDemonstrated ability to perform equipment startup, commissioning, and process optimizationAbility to quickly adapt to new problems, clients, and situationsProject management skillsLean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodology experienceOperating experience with water treatment equipment including UF/MBR, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, micro-filtration, clarification and conventional filtration, evaporators, or crystallizersAdditional InformationJoin a company that values Responsibility, Solidarity, Innovation, Customer Focus, and Respect. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity.
