Job Description GREATER NEW BEDFORD REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL. Electrical Teaching Assistant – 2-year Grant funded – After Dark Program. School year – Monday – Thursday 3:00–6:00 p.m. – Flexible Days available. Classes may be held on Friday when there is a Monday holiday or a Wednesday half day. The After Dark Program allows students who participate to have the opportunity to obtain a Chapter 74 Electrical Certification in collaboration with the Fairhaven High School. Recommended Minimum Qualification High School graduate Experience in Electrical and hand and power tool safety preferred Prior experience working with young adults desired Essential Functions Keep records Observe and report information observed Disseminate information to individuals, parents, groups relating to the specific program purposes, functions, and goals Prepare instructional materials and supplies for use Assist in the supervision of pupils Assist with grading and marking papers Tutor pupils as directed Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the teacher Knowledge, Ability and Skills Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided. Ability: Ability to communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school employees, students, teachers, parents, and vendors. Ability to recognize school-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal effectively with interruptions, occasionally under time pressure. Skills: Demonstrates enthusiasm for learning and interest in students. Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of achievement and classroom behavior. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates effective knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population. Willing and able to perform assigned duties in a manner that is sensitive to different personalities, respectful of the role and authority of school leaders, and sensitive to community dynamics. Serves as a role model and mentor to young students. Physical Requirements Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
