The school year is Monday‑Thursday 3:00‑6:00 p.m., with possible adjustments for holidays. Students will have the opportunity to obtain a Chapter 74 Electrical Certification in collaboration with Fairhaven High School. Recommended Minimum Qualification DESE Chapter 74 Certification in Electrical preferred or Minimum 3 years full‑time experience in the Electrical field Prior experience working with young adults desired Essential Functions Meets and instructs assigned students in designated locations and times. Develops and maintains an environment conducive to effective learning. Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request of superior. Assists students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of the students. Implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Evaluates student progress on a continuing basis; maintains an effective system of monitoring student progress. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy. Is available to meet with students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested. Performs other duties as needed. Knowledge, Ability and Skills Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and within physical limitations of the location provided; demonstrates effective classroom management skills and sound instructional techniques. Ability: Adjusts presentation of subject content to students’ needs and interests; utilizes classroom space and instructional facilities effectively; communicates effectively; establishes and maintains working relationships with school employees, students, teachers, parents, and vendors; recognizes school-wide priorities; prioritizes multiple tasks and handles interruptions efficiently. Skills: Enthusiasm for learning and interest in students; encourages students to set high standards of achievement and classroom behavior; demonstrates effective knowledge of curriculum content; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; sensitivity to diverse student population; respect for school leaders; ability to serve as role model and mentor. Physical Requirements Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with staff and the public via telephone and personal contact; must be capable of operating office equipment; requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
