Lead Teacher and Coach (School Year 2026-2027) Elizabeth C. Brooks Elementary School, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Job Description The Lead Teacher and Coach (LTaC) will provide personalized coaching and direct support to teachers and students in order to facilitate high-quality, culturally and linguistically sustaining literacy and numeracy instruction. The role includes professional development, data-driven practice, and Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) implementation to enhance student achievement. Qualifications Strong background in elementary reading/writing and/or math instruction Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff Ability to design, deliver, and assess the effectiveness of professional development Demonstrated track record in raising student achievement Strong coaching skills Familiarity with educational data analysis Familiarity with Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Appropriate MA DESE teaching licensure; Massachusetts teaching license required At least three years of relevant experience (preferred) Bachelor’s degree preferred Duties and Responsibilities Assist in the design and delivery of job-embedded professional development, including side‑by‑side coaching, modeling, observing, providing non‑evaluative feedback, and co‑planning to improve teachers’ instruction and targeted student support. Model effective research‑based instruction techniques and differentiation strategies for literacy and numeracy within Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support. Coach teachers on delivering high‑quality, rigorous instruction to all students and providing targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction to those significantly behind. Conduct direct student‑centered support in collaboration with principals: provide academic support, extension, and intervention; conduct individual or small‑group sessions to reinforce concepts, develop study skills, and offer additional academic assistance. Provide direct instruction and interventions individually or in small groups to students in literacy, reading, writing, and/or math. Work with principal, educators, and key staff to embed support for implementing coached strategies and professional development lessons. Assess the impact of professional development sessions on student learning through classroom observations and analysis of student data. Assist in developing rigorous and aligned assessments and intervention tools. Help develop a Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support model at the school or program, ensuring differentiated, just‑in‑time supports for all students based on data. Contribute to school‑wide data‑driven instruction by participating on the School Instructional Leadership Team (SILT) and consulting with Teacher Collaboration Teams (TCTs). Engage parents and family members as active participants in students’ learning teams, providing coaching on techniques for improving literacy and/or numeracy at home. Commit to participation as an active member of a high‑performing team dedicated to continuous improvement and student achievement.
