Practical Nursing Instructor (Founding Faculty)

A well-established, career-focused school is opening a new campus in the St. Louis Metro East area and bringing its Practical Nursing (PN) program there. The school has helped students start healthcare careers for more than 30 years. It is still privately owned and run, and this growth brings that experience to a new community.

The school is hiring one of the first instructors for the new campus. You will help start the program, teach and mentor the first group of LPN students, and set the tone for every class that follows. This role suits a nurse educator who likes starting new things and wants to help shape a program's culture, standards, and student experience.

What You'll Do

• Classroom and Lab Teaching. Plan and teach lectures and hands-on skills labs for the first class, and create an encouraging, engaging place to learn.
• Testing and Feedback. Write, give, and grade exams and skills checks. Give students useful feedback so they are ready for clinicals and the NCLEX-PN.
• Clinical Supervision. Supervise students at local hospitals and care sites, and build strong relationships with those clinical partners.
• Curriculum Delivery. Teach from an established curriculum and suggest changes that fit the new campus and its students. Keep the program in line with Illinois nursing and higher education rules.
• Student Mentoring. Advise and support the first students as they move through the program, and help create the habits and support systems that lead to student success.
• Online Course Tools. Use the school's online learning platform to post course materials, track grades and progress, and stay in touch with students.

Required Qualifications

State and accreditation rules require a BSN for this faculty role. RNs with an associate degree who are currently enrolled in a BSN completion program are still encouraged to apply and will be considered individually.

• BSN from an accredited school (ADN-prepared RNs working toward a BSN will be considered)
• Active, unrestricted Illinois RN license
• At least 2 years of recent, full-time hands-on patient care as an RN
• A real interest in teaching and the ability to explain complex clinical topics clearly
• A strong commitment to academic integrity, professional ethics, and regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience in a nursing program, plus a working knowledge of how adults learn
• Experience precepting or mentoring nursing students or new graduate nurses
• Background in med-surg, acute care, or a related specialty
• Comfort with the flexibility and problem-solving a new program requires
