Role: Manager, Recruitment Position reports to: Senior Managing Director, Recruitment Location: Dallas/Fort Worth or Houston, TX What you'll do Teach For America (TFA) seeks a Recruitment Manager to drive the movement for educational opportunity by attracting top leaders to join the TFA corps. The Recruitment Manager – External (RME) will execute a targeted recruitment strategy, understand regional educational landscapes, and align TFA’s efforts with each region’s needs. Responsibilities include leading recruitment initiatives, serving as the external lead for events, cultivation meetings, campus engagement, and key partnerships, and collaborating closely with Recruitment Managers – Internal (RMI) to make data‑driven decisions and accelerate field recruitment efforts. What you'll be responsible for Set and execute recruitment strategy at targeted campuses across the state (15%) Develop and execute a recruitment strategy that strengthens the overall campaign landscape across subsets of schools, driving success at individual campuses. Build strategy for stakeholder engagement and empower key influencers (alumni, corps members, campus ambassadors, etc.) to steward the TFA movement and promote the organizational brand across the state. Plan, execute, and improve strategy across teams, using data‑based tools to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities. Make strong decisions regarding the Teach For America selection process through all stages of the application funnel. Hire and manage part‑time student employees to meet campaign objectives and raise awareness across various campuses. Identify and conduct outreach to Corps Member prospects (35%) Source high‑potential leaders and develop outreach strategies to connect them with TFA. Identify campaign levers for significant impact (e.g., partnering with Career Services, prioritizing social impact summits). Tailor communication to different audiences, crafting compelling messages that resonate with candidates’ motivations. Initiate and nurture relationships with potential network partners and external stakeholders. Plan and execute high‑quality recruitment events and initiatives that support campaign goals and drive candidate engagement. Execute recruitment strategies to drive applications and steward candidates through the admissions process (35%) Leverage stakeholders and collaborate to plan and execute high‑quality events, individual meetings, and other strategies to compel prospective corps members to join TFA. Build and maintain strong, individualized relationships with prospective candidates, tailoring cultivation strategies to their backgrounds and experiences. Guide candidates through the admissions process, ensuring continued investment and readiness to contribute to systemic change. Lead across the movement (15%) Participate in all organizational commitments, including selection, confirmation, RT‑wide events, and team meetings. Stay deeply informed about the educational landscape of partner regions and use context to guide conversations with prospects and stakeholders. Adapt to changing needs of the team, region, or organization and support various initiatives as needed. Steward available resources through consistent compliance with employee policies and expectations. A week in the life The Recruitment Manager – External (RME) spends the week actively recruiting at college campuses or through nonprofit partnerships, attending hiring fairs, recruitment events, and engaging with key stakeholders at local colleges and nonprofit organizations. The role involves cultivating relationships, connecting one‑on‑one with prospective candidates, inspiring them with TFA’s mission, and building a pipeline of committed individuals. The manager collaborates closely with the direct manager and the Recruitment Manager – Internal (RMI) to analyze campaign data, adjust strategies, and ensure accurate prospect data in the internal CRM. Your experience Prior experience At least 2 years of professional experience. Teach For America alumni and/or experience working in low‑income schools strongly preferred. Prior recruitment experience preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities Proficient in planning, execution, and strategy design, thriving on creating and leading key initiatives that attract top prospects. Exceptionally detail‑oriented, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality. Skilled at building and nurturing relationships across diverse groups to foster strong partnerships. Able to communicate clearly and persuasively in a variety of settings, tailoring messaging to engage and inspire different audiences. Committed to personal and professional growth, reflecting on experiences, seeking feedback, and owning development. Work demands Travel will be required; ranges from week to week based on strategy or needs. Ability to travel independently to multiple locations and manage logistics. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds for work purposes. Your compensation The salary range for this U.S.‑based role is aligned to one of three tiers according to a cost‑of‑labor index in the geographic area. Starting pay depends on factors including education, training, experience, location, business needs, and market demands.
