Production SchedulerCottage Grove, Minnesota, United StatesThe RoleProduction Scheduler owns the day-to-day and week-to-week production schedule. This role turns demand and supply plans into real, executable schedules while balancing labor, materials, inventory, quality, safety, and compliance. You'll be working with a high number of SKUs, changing priorities, and real-world constraints. We're looking for someone who can think ahead, stay flexible, and roll up their sleeves when things don't go to plan.This role is critical to minimizing inventory risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling profitable growth. The Production Scheduler serves as the central decision-maker for production sequencing, acting as the connective tissue between Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Operations, Quality, and Compliance.ResponsibilitiesProduction Scheduling & ExecutionOwn and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across all product categories.Convert monthly production plans into detailed weekly and daily schedules by department and process.Sequence production to optimize throughput, minimize changeovers, and protect quality outcomes.Continuously adjust schedules based on:Demand changesLabor availabilityMaterial constraintsQA release timingRegulatory limitationsEstablish and maintain routings, run rates, batch sizes, and standard hours for all unit operations.Balance line loading across departments and shifts, including overtime planning and resource reallocation.Cannabis Regulatory & Compliance SchedulingIntegrate state and company regulatory requirements into all production schedules, including:Batch size limitsLot and genealogy dependenciesMandatory QA hold and testing timelinesQuarantine and remediation scenariosCoordinate production timing with state traceability systems (e.g., METRC or equivalent).Schedule production around:State inspections and auditsReporting deadlinesCompliance-driven process constraintsProactively identify and mitigate compliance risks related to production timing or sequencing.Inventory & Material PlanningMonitor and manage WIP and Finished Goods inventory to align with shipment velocity and sales forecasts.Build and maintain input allocations based on:Inventory availabilityDemand prioritiesShelf-life considerationsConfirm material readiness prior to schedule release and escalate shortages or risks compared to 90-day inventory schedule plan.Partner with Inventory and Finance teams to ensure reconciliation between AFS (available-for-sale) and state systemsDemand, Supply & Tradeoff DecisionsReview demand forecasts and call out when plans don't match capacity or constraints.Help leadership understand the tradeoffs between:SLA (Service Level Agreement)InventoryLabor costCompliance riskParticipate in S&OP / planning conversations as the voice of production reality.Own schedule changes and escalation when plans break.Labor & Capacity PlanningBuild and maintain capacity models by department and process.Identify bottlenecks and work with Operations to improve flow.Use historical performance to improve schedule accuracy and labor planning.Help translate staffing plans into executable schedules.Quality & Release TimingCoordinate schedules with QA for:SamplingTesting turnaroundRelease timingAdjust production plans when quality outcomes change.Support continuous improvement tied to yield, quality, and efficiency.Systems, Data & KPIsAct as a key owner of scheduling-related systems, including ERP, traceability, and reporting tools.Maintain clean, accurate scheduling data across systems.Track and report key metrics such as:Schedule adherencePlan attainmentInventory accuracyChangeover efficiencyProduction efficiency impactsLabor UtilizationUse data to spot issues early and drive improvements.Other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum of 5 years of experience in a production environment as a Production Supervisor or similar supply chain and procurement experience.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook). Tableau & State Tracking systems (METRC, Biotrack, & MJ Freeway) a plus.Initiative-taking, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness.Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with commitment to quality work.High attention to details and due diligence.Adapts and thrives in a demanding and fast-paced environment.Superior communication and people skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.Understands and complies with the state and local rules and regulations, and internal policies and procedures of Green Thumb.Consistently operates with an elevated level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.Ability to anticipate needs, find alternative solutions and be proactive in achieving desired outcomes.Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.Additional RequirementsMust pass all required background checksMust be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industryMust possess valid driver's licenseMust be a minimum of 21 years of ageThe pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.Green Thumb Pay Range$80,000 - $95,000 USD
