Chief Garage Mechanic

Position – Union Chief Garage Mechanic (1 position) – Location: CT – East Hartford – Meadow St – Hourly rate: $45.67 – $53.65. Qualifications Must possess all the qualifications and be able to perform the duties of a Garage Mechanic. Formal automotive education with at least 5 years’ experience in technical automotive and heavy‑door service. Superior technician with strong diagnostic skills and ability to work well independently. Thorough knowledge of compressed natural gas vehicle programs including compressor function and repair. Ability to work cooperatively with others and gain their cooperation. Willingness to accept further education as deemed necessary by supervision. Experience in computerized Fleet Management System and Inventory Control. Duties Schedule and assign daily work. Assist supervision in processing and communication regarding orders, payments, applications and other items required for the efficient administration of the Garage area. Perform diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment. Assist Garage Mechanics with diagnostics and repairs as needed. Assist Garage Mechanics in Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Conversions and Compressor repairs. Assist in the maintenance of Fleet Management System and garage inventory. Coordinate appointments with outside vendors as needed. Calibrate engine analyzer and maintain state vehicle emissions records. Maintain, service and repair equipment related to the operation and fueling of compressed natural gas vehicles, including compressors and filling station equipment. Perform certified warranty work for several vehicle manufacturers. Perform other related duties as required. May involve handling hazardous waste. Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16. NOTE: * Identifies essential functions. This is a DOT Safety Sensitive position.
