Overview With 118 beds and more than 400 physicians on its medical staff, Pali Momi Medical Center offers a full range of services for the communities of Central and West O‘ahu. The hospital has delivered medical firsts for the community, including an interventional cardiac catheterization unit, a minimally invasive surgical suite, a comprehensive women’s center, CT and MRI services, and a retina center. Pali Momi uses a team triage approach in its emergency room, where patients are promptly evaluated by an emergency physician. Health Information Services (HIS) processes patient medical records and releases information to patients, physicians, and other facilities for treatment, payment, or review. HIS is the custodian of medical records privacy and develops coding procedures for data collection, research, and reimbursement. With widespread computerization of health records and information sources, health informatics and health information technology are increasingly used in health care. If you are highly organized and detail-oriented, you can help manage clinical records according to the highest ethical standards of patient privacy and security. Position : Clinical Documentation Specialist Responsibilities Improve the overall quality of medical record documentation to ensure compliance with Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) guidelines and to expedite reimbursement. Use clinical and coding knowledge to obtain documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, Case Management, and Health Information Management staff. Ensure that the clinical information used in measuring and reporting outcomes is complete and accurate, and that reimbursement is received for services rendered to patients with DRG-based payers. Educate members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines. Support privacy and security standards in line with organization policies. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Hawai’i Registered Nurse License. Five (5) years of clinical experience in an acute care setting that includes inpatient bedside nursing. Preferred Qualifications: Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) certification. Experience with InterQual, Milliman, or other nationally recognized Utilization Management criteria. Experience with DRGs or inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
