Title: Mechanical Design Engineer HVAC / Refrigeration
Location : Athens, GA Onsite
Job Summary
- Provide mechanical design and engineering support for refrigeration truck and trailer units .
- Drive Design-to-Value (DTV), VAVE, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Develop and optimize 3D CAD models, engineering designs, and detailed drawings.
- Perform CAE/FEA analysis to ensure product performance, durability, and reliability.
- Support engineering changes, design optimization, and product development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across products, components, and assemblies.
- Develop, modify, and optimize 3D models, CAD designs, and engineering drawings .
- Perform structural, vibration, and fatigue FEA as required.
- Manage ECNs , including engineering analysis, documentation, implementation, and closure.
- Conduct design rationalization, alternate part development, and material optimization.
DTV / VAVE Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for product cost reduction and design simplification .
- Evaluate alternate materials, components, and manufacturing approaches.
- Develop cost-optimized solutions without compromising quality or functionality.
- Analyze and validate potential savings with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support TRB/QRB reviews to confirm design feasibility and robustness.
Project Management
- Support weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reviews and status reporting .
- Prepare technical documentation, design change summaries, and presentations.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, follow-ups, and action-item closure.
- Track engineering activities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Communicate project status, risks, and technical recommendations to leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering .
- Strong experience in HVAC/Refrigeration mechanical engineering and product design .
- Experience with 3D CAD and detailed engineering drawings .
- Hands-on experience with DTV/VAVE and cost-reduction engineering .
- Knowledge of FEA, ECN, design optimization, and material optimization .
