Our Body Shop Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the body service shop ensuring consistent quality and efficient customer service and satisfaction while meeting or exceeding the company's sales and goals for profitability. Provide leadership, direction and support to staff in the repair and servicing of customer's vehicles to promote efficiency and productivity and respond to and resolve administrative/operational issues.

Requirements
• Coordinate and direct the daily operational and support activities of the shop to ensure deadlines are met. Provide assistance to technicians for complex repair or vehicle service requirements. Provide daily direction and communication to staff and act as a liaison between other internal departments, managers, and customers in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational problems to improve efficiency and maintain a work environment that is conducive to high sales, exceptional customer service and profitability.
• Accurately process all warranty claims by obtaining claim information from work orders; reviewing and researching claims, if required, to verify the accuracy and completeness of information on claim forms, validating eligibility for coverage, and entering information into computer system to submit to vendors. Resolve errors and discrepancies. Track warranties on returned parts and follow-up with vendors to ensure the company receives warranty credits.
• Confer with customers via phone, text, email, and in person to obtain description of problem and communicate job progress and answer questions.
• Reconcile technicians time sheets to customer work orders each week for payroll purposes.
• Ensure employees are clocking in and out for workday and lunch.
• Organize and maintain service and parts department contracts and files.
• Maintain inventory of required parts, tools and materials to provide required services. Negotiate with vendors to maximize company benefits for availability, delivery and price.
• Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Ensure all workplace activities and recordkeeping are meeting OSHA compliance standards.
• Perform related duties as requested to meet business requirements. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Body Shop Manager has immediate supervision over the body shop technicians. Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing and hiring; instructing and training in work methods; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; conducting performance evaluations; determining disciplinary actions regarding unsatisfactory employees; and making final decision to terminate unsatisfactory employees.

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required and at least one year of mechanic/vehicle maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-year college degree automotive technology preferred.
• Minimum three years prior supervisory experience required.
• Valid NYS drivers' license free from major infractions required.
• Basic math skills required to maintain inventory and or purchase supplies.
• Must have at the time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS drivers' license free of major infractions.

Special Requirements:
• Ability to work Saturdays and overtime on a regular basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Computer proficiency including basic data entry and writing routine reports and correspondence.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage technical employees with varying skill levels.
• Ability to use appropriate power and hand-held tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, replace, and test equipment.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of operating and maintenance instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations.

Knowledge of electrical systems.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare routine paperwork.
• Ability to understand directions and follow standard operating procedures.
• Detailed working knowledge of automotive safety standards and related regulations.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.


Equipment Used:

Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, cash register, and various hand and power tools. Must be able to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, face shield, and respirator.

Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook and Word.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in a shop environment. The worker is exposed to temperature changes (inside and outside), noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils, vibration, hazardous materials, potential for physical injury, and proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
