Founded by Celia Villanueva and joined by her son Eduardo Morales in 2014, MCG has grown to be the 3rd largest alcohol beverage distributor in Texas, the 4th largest spirits distributor in Florida and 6th in California. MCG has cultivated and established a network of partnerships with over 140 regional distributors and control states resulting in reach and presence in all 50 states in the US. JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Vice President Portfolio, the Portfolio Manager builds and sustains strong partnerships with suppliers while serving as the primary liaison for brand standards, programming, and expectations across the organization. This role drives portfolio profitability by overseeing pricing, financial support, and sales incentives, while ensuring alignment with company goals and supplier strategies. Responsibilities include managing product launches, optimizing inventory and supply chain needs, and analyzing product performance to guide growth opportunities and rationalize underperforming items. By communicating clear go‑to‑market strategies, marketing initiatives, and performance insights to internal teams, the Portfolio Manager ensures consistent demand generation, market execution, and long‑term portfolio success. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s portfolio management function, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and long‑term growth objectives. Develops and maintains long‑term relationships with key Supplier Partners; including Regional and National Sales Managers, Brand Ambassadors and other gatekeepers/influencers. Has a strong understanding of supplier’s expectations, focus items, market supports, brand standards and is the main conduit for this information being communicated so all departments are aligned and can work together to exceed expectations. Works in conjunction with the Executive Team and Sales Leadership to establish the company’s agreed upon brand specific quarterly and annual goal objectives as it relates to the portfolio(s) they manage. Responsible for all portfolio pricing and programming, with focus on spirits, beer, and sake portfolios, to ensure alignment with overall company profitability standards. This includes, but is not limited to, acquiring supplier financial support and managing supported programs for all channels. Markets to internal customers (Sales Management/Sales Representatives/ KAM’s, Specialists) by communicating relevant Portfolio information. This includes programming and development initiatives and go‑to‑market strategies with the intention of creating consistent demand for and depletion of the portfolio(s) they manage. Analyzes portfolio development as it relates to opportunities of growth and recommends new brands and product elimination to align with the Company’s overall growth strategy. Manages and executes successful new product launches including item setup/pricing, updating marketing materials (website, social media, portfolio) and communication to the Sales Team to insure customer retention and engagement. Provides an ongoing business analysis of products/ profitability/ inventory/ product turns/ aged inventory to include quarterly and yearly business review and planning. Creates and implements sales incentive structures for sales management and sales teams. Supply Chain Management – Ensure appropriate inventory, and manage product turns in concert with the purchasing team. Manage new vendor and item set ups, special order items where appropriate, increased inventory needs for market programs, trends, and National account programs. Works with suppliers on market calendar availability and frequency of time in market and communicates focus items, event expectations and trade investments. Executes in conjunction with statewide and regional sales management BEHAVIOR & COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 5 years’ experience in alcoholic beverage industry is required. Strong persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to speak before large audiences both internally and externally. Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, before and after hours, and on weekends, when required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specified requirements may be considered for substitution. Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time may include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor).
