The Radiology Service features advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Responsibilities

• Perform vascular ultrasound studies including carotid duplex, peripheral arterial and venous evaluations, renal artery duplex, aortic aneurysm screening, vertebral artery studies, and portal-systemic shunt assessments
• Evaluate and document venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and arterial occlusive disease using duplex and color-flow Doppler imaging
• Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures and biopsies, determining location, depth, and required needle angle using sterile surgical technique
• Advise radiologists of significant vascular abnormalities requiring immediate attention during examinations
• Perform vascular sonographic examinations at bedside and in operating rooms on patients unable to be transported to the Imaging Section
• Utilize PACS to archive, validate, and transmit images; ensure studies are available for radiologic interpretation promptly after completion
• Interview patients to obtain pertinent medical and vascular history including medication usage; explain procedures and provide instructions
• Maintain and troubleshoot vascular ultrasound equipment; report malfunctions promptly and maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas
• Stay current with technological advances in vascular sonography; incorporate advances into in-service educational programs

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Qualifications

• Current ARDMS registration as Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular Specialist (VS) credential
• Current BLS/BCLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of vascular ultrasound technology experience
• Proficiency with peripheral arterial and venous, carotid, renal, and abdominal vascular ultrasound protocols
• Knowledge of sterile technique for ultrasound-guided interventional procedures
• VA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not required

Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM. Overtime and on-call may be required as assigned.
