Underwriter / Account Executive - Financial Institutions P&C

Overview We are Travelers, a leading property casualty insurer with over 170 years of experience. The Underwrite Financial Institutions Underwriter role allows you to evaluate and analyze financial and business risks, build relationships, and sell and negotiate with clients, agents, and brokers. Compensation Base salary range: $89,800.00 - $148,300.00 (nationwide market range). The rate is determined by scope, complexity, location, and experience. The position also includes eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards. What Is the Opportunity? As an underwriter on the Financial Institutions P&C team, you will assess risk on new and renewal business for a full suite of guaranteed-cost insurance solutions for community banks, credit unions, insurance companies, asset managers, and other financial institutions. The role requires 20% travel. Responsibilities Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Underwrite and negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. Execute business unit underwriting strategies to achieve profit and growth objectives. Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners and external agents/brokers to identify cross-selling opportunities. Meet agents and brokers in person to market and sell Travelers products, writing and retaining accounts aligned with risk appetite. Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills. Develop and execute individual agency sales plans aligned with team plans. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Three to five years of underwriting experience. Working knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local market conditions. Strong critical‑thinking skills for underwriting, product marketing, financial analysis, and aligning decisions with risk appetite. Effective communication and negotiation skills with agents and brokers. Minimum two years of underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment experience (must‑have).
