This role is responsible for creating cohesive, scalable packaging families that reflect WHOOP’s design principles: simplicity, performance, and precision.You will define how our products show up in the world, from first touch to unboxing, ensuring every detail reinforces the brand and product experience. This role requires a strong balance of creative vision, engineering rigor, and cross-functional collaboration.RESPONSIBILITIES:Packaging System Leadership: Lead the design of structural packaging across a range of hardware and accessory productsEstablish and evolve packaging families that scale across product lines while maintaining consistencyDefine principles for form, materials, and construction that reinforce WHOOP’s brand and product philosophyDesign Excellence & Cohesion:Ensure a high bar for simplicity, clarity, and precision in all packaging outputsMaintain cohesion across SKUs, generations, and product categoriesTranslate complex product ecosystems into intuitive and elegant packaging solutionsCross-Functional Collaboration:Partner closely with Industrial Design, Brand, Engineering, Operations, and Supply ChainIntegrate packaging considerations early in the product development processBalance design intent with manufacturing constraints, cost targets, and sustainability goalsDevelopment & Execution:Own packaging from concept through production, including prototyping, testing, and vendor collaborationCreate detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications for manufacturingWork with suppliers to ensure quality, scalability, and fidelity to design intentInnovation & Sustainability:Identify opportunities to reduce material usage, improve sustainability, and optimize logisticsStay informed on new materials, processes, and packaging innovationsPush the team toward smarter, more efficient solutions without compromising experienceQUALIFICATIONS:7+ years of experience in structural packaging design, preferably in consumer electronics or premium consumer productsStrong portfolio demonstrating packaging systems, not just one-off solutionsExpertise in materials, manufacturing processes, and structural design principlesProficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similarExperience bringing products from concept through mass productionHighly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-stage environmentBoston-based; 4 days in officeStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributionsThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs.
