Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Virginia nursing license pending accepted Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Epic experience required - Previous charge experience preferred Description: This is a clinical position in a 12-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:4. Patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis. The unit operates a block scheduling system, but specific requests cannot be guaranteed. Candidates may work 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend is required. Staff must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. There is a floating policy where staff may float within their scope of practice. All candidates must disclose any vacation time that overlaps with the contract period. A maximum of 40 hours of time off may be approved. Skills required include managing dysrhythmias, tracheostomy care, and wound care. The candidate will work alongside interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Experience with telemetry is essential as part of the job duties. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role. An associate's degree in nursing is required, and a bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience with nurse-driven insulin drips and heparin infusions is a plus.
