Accountant

Hybrid Role – Milwaukee, WI (Hybrid) Accountant Position – Supporting the Accounting team with period‑end close, expense management, financial reporting, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Participate in month‑end and year‑end closings, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accuracy of data. Reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement line items, including health‑related accounts. Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. Review travel and AP entries for proper coding. Manage fixed asset portfolio, additions, deletions, and depreciation. Track and record monthly investment balance changes for reserve and endowment funds. Support Treasury Management lead with daily cash activity, reporting, and reconciliations. Manage corporate card and staff reimbursement process. Train employees on expense report processing. Reconcile and pay corporate card statements. Learn payroll system, process, and provide backup to primary payroll person. Participate in payroll and HR meetings and trainings. Perform other duties as assigned. Adhere to agency policies, including confidentiality, compliance, and conduct standards. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Technical Skills Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting. Soft Skills Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Efficient time management and multitasking. Collaborative approach with colleagues and partners. Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs. High ethical standards and integrity. Commitment to continuous learning. Preferred Experience in a not‑for‑profit environment, especially HIV treatment.
