About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months required. License: Must have a valid nursing license prior to start date. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Solid neuro experience. Will consider MS/Tele or PCU RNs. Description: This is a dynamic mixed acuity unit comprised of both medical surgical and progressive levels of care. Areas of care include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary. The unit provides care for medical patients with some PCU level patients. The nurse-patient ratio for medical surgical patients is 1:5-6, while for PCU patients, it is 1:3-4. Nurses will manage drips for medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin. Patients may present with unstable strokes and require BiPAP. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. Additional skills required include accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and central line care. Nurses are expected to interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration. Floating within the hospital or nearby affiliates may be required.
