Worlds of Fun offers multiple entry-level and advanced opportunities within the Public Safety team. Each role plays an important part in creating a safe and welcoming environment, with increasing responsibility, training requirements, and pay.

1. Parking Attendant (Entry-Level) – $15.50/hr

Minimum Age: 17
Security License Required: No

Overview

The Parking Attendant role is the starting point for a career in park safety and security. This position focuses on guest interaction, traffic flow, and parking lot safety while introducing team members to basic safety operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct traffic and assist with parking lot flow
• Monitor parking areas for safety and organization
• Greet guests as they arrive and provide directions
• Assist with parking lot safety positions and procedures
• Maintain a visible, friendly presence in guest areas
• Support team operations and learn foundational safety practices

2. Access Control Associate – $16.50/hr

Minimum Age: 18
Security License Required: Yes (training provided)

Overview

Access Control Associates specialize in entry-point security screening and credential verification . This role is more structured and detail-focused, ensuring that everyone entering the park is properly screened and authorized.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate metal detectors, handheld wands, and x-ray machines
• Screen guests and team members at entry points
• Verify employee credentials and manage restricted access
• Maintain organized and efficient entry processes
• Communicate clearly with guests and team members
• Monitor for suspicious items or activity

3. In-Park Security Associate – $18.00/hr

Minimum Age: 18
Security License Required : Yes (training provided)

Overview

In-Park Security Associates perform active safety and security operations throughout the park. This is the most advanced role, involving patrol, emergency response, and incident management.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol the park to maintain a safe environment
• Respond to security and medical incidents
• Enforce park rules and safety policies
• Assist guests and provide reassurance during situations
• Secure restricted areas and facilities
• Write detailed incident reports
• Support entry screening when needed

• More physically active and dynamic work environment

In-Park Security Bonus (Up to $300):
Security team members can earn a bonus for staying reliable throughout the entire season, including the slower fall months. To qualify, you must stay in good standing, remain employed through the end of the season, and work at least two shifts in both September and October. The bonus is paid in steps for completing training, staying through the summer, and finishing the season, rewarding team members who stay consistent from start to finish.

Career Path Opportunity

Many team members start as Parking Attendants , then move into: ➡ Access Control (licensed security entry role)
➡ In-Park Security (advanced security and response role)

This progression allows you to gain experience, certification, and higher pay while developing valuable public safety skills.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Must be 17 years or older
• Able to obtain and maintain any required local security licenses(training provided)
• Must be able to pass a background screen and drug screen per company policy
• Prior security experience preferred, but not required
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
• Comfortable standing, walking, and patrolling outdoors for long periods
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; friendly and guest‑focused
• Comfortable using radios, phones, and basic computer systems
• Dependable, safety‑minded, and able to multitask effectively
• Flexible availability-nights, weekends, holidays, especially during peak season (Memorial Day-Labor Day)

Additional tasks may be assigned depending on park needs.
